A cheque for $290.14 was issued to Maureen

Deposits
are proceeds from merchandise sales (totes, potholders, baby hats) as well as
annual membership fees
Sewing
machine was purchased for the production of the totes. The sewing of the mesh portion of the totes,
especially, is very hard on sewing machines.
The machine will ‘live with’ Maggie Hanson (head “Tote Tart”) for the
foreseeable future

Chapter / Regional Events and Information –
Maureen, Maggie - The Island Regional meeting was held last
weekend; no one was able to attend from Powell River
Publicity / Advocacy – Jan B., Faye, Malerie - Malerie is working on finalizing the design for
the car magnets. The group liked the
latest mock up and provided suggestions and feedback. Malerie will follow up with Impact Signs
Lesley operates the concession at the Recreation
Complex and has offered to display our posters and notices of events, etc.,
rather than us paying for a window display.
We can also join her with a table of merchandise and information when
she is working an event
We encourage all members to visit the Sunshine

There haven’t been events since the last meeting however Maggie has sold 14 totes, some potholders and cotton children’s hats from home

Kazuri Jewellery – Janice
Janice emailed and ased when the jewellery needs to be returned and if we can purchase the remainder of the stock? Also, will jewellery be available from another source? What will happen to the women’s collective that makes the jewellery? So far, she has not had a response. Janice will try contacting the women in Ontario to see if she can get answers to these questions

Mabel’s Labels and Potholders – Maureen
Some purchases of labels have been made, but not
many
Maureen has completed 12 more pairs of potholders and will continue working on them to get as many as possible made for summer events

Cotton Knitted Children’s Hats – Helen
Maggie reported for Helen that she is still
making hats. Helen will determine which
are the most popular styles and colours and will concentrate on making those
for future events

We will enquire if it is possible to set up a
table for one or two days and if so, an email will be sent to members for
volunteers to cover shifts

First Nations Paddle Event

Maureen
will find out the exact dates and what is involved in becoming a vendor. She will send out an email with details and a
request for volunteers if we are able to participate
August 15 – 16 – Art in the Park, Willingdon
Beach

It was decided that we may want to choose
between the First Nations Paddle and Art in the Park events. A decision will be made when we have more
information and when we know how many people are available to volunteer at
these events
September 19 – 20 – Fall Fair, Open Air Market

Maggie
and Janice will follow through and
book space for this event. A request for
volunteers for happen at our next business meeting on August 31
November
14 – Lund Craft Fair, Italian Fall

December – Hospital Christmas Sale

Charlotte usually arranges this event for the
Monday following a payday. We will ask
her to do so again this year. Baking was
a huge success last year so we will continue with this addition to our
merchandise this year

Business:
Malerie was not able to report on the idea of
hosting a Regional Grandmothers meeting.
We will ask her to pursue this idea with our counterparts on the island
The scarves we discussed at our last meeting,
that are to be worn by volunteers at our fundraising events, are made and will
be available at each of our fundraising events
