volunteers.
c) Kathaumixw: Jan Padgett – Jan has talked to Carrie
Lannigan and there is a
concern that it is a change of procedure to allow
anyone other than visiting choirs to sell
merchandise and Jan is not optimistic
that a change will happen. As with PRISMA,
the
idea will be taken to the board for possible approval. Jan will report back next meeting.
d) Movie night:
The movie Life Above All is
one that Maggie saw in Vancouver and
thought would be a good one for a film
night.
Maggie will get a copy of the movie this
weekend and Jan will have a
look at it and report back at the next meeting.
11. Possible Fundraising
Opportunities/Discussion:
a) Canada Day:
at the market? Maggie is
checking on where would be the best place
to take advantage of this busy time
in Powell River.
b) Sunshine Music Festival: Maggie will check about the cost of a
booth because
there is not a non-profit booth.
c) Fall Fair:
good networking opportunity.
Volunteer schedule will be circulated.
d) Lund Craft Fair: good event. We are on their email list and will plan to
do this again.
e) Hospital Pre-Christmas Sale: Charlotte will organize again on a Monday
before
Christmas.
12. Other Business: Fundraising Ideas:
Marlane: Felted soap? Will report back soon. Powell River Auctions: an online opportunity to raise money selling
stuff. Wecheck it out and think about it
and make a decision at the next meeting.
Maureen: Hot dog sale can be
combined with an information table. Maureen
will look into doing it again at Save On.
Calendar ideas –dress up well known seniors as famous people or some
such thing. Adding a food item to our
booth at the Fall Fair like chocolate dipped bananas. BC Festival of the Performing Arts will be
hosted in Powell River in 2015 and Maureen will keep an eye on opportunities
that may present themselves related to that.
Quilt show is happening again next year.
Do we want to cater again? Discussion
sounds positive so Maureen will let the Quilting club know that we will do it
again.

June 17, 2014 Janice Rayson’s
house 3419 Cariboo at 7:00.
